While you’ve probably have heard of Android Auto, most of you most likely haven’t ever used it, as it has a limited reach. Today, an update to the Auto app now lets Android Auto work in any car.
The new update lets anyone with an Android phone running Lollipop or higher (5.0+) to have a driver-friendly interface. From it, you can glance at directions, control music, or manage your communications.
Additionally, when your phone is paired with Bluetooth to a supported car mount or the car itself, the app can start automatically. In the coming weeks, Google says an update will bring enhanced voice commands such as “Ok Google.”
The new update makes installs on small tablets (Nexus 7) more useful than on phones. Some counties may prohibit using a phone as a “car computer,” so check with local regulations first.
