After pushing back the release to early 2017, Google has been relatively quiet on any Android Wear 2.0 news… until now.
The notice below, which states the release of Wear 2.0 as “early February 2017,” was sent to many developers whose apps are still using a legacy embedded APK mechanism. Basically, what this means is that Wear 2.0 features an on-watch Play Store and supports standalone apps (apps that do not require an active phone connection). Any apps that are not updated to support the new release will not show up to users on the on-watch Play Store.
