October 2018 Android distribution numbers posted, still no Pie

Google releases Android distribution numbers every month for developers to help them prioritize their efforts in supporting different devices. The month’s nearly over, so here are October’s distribution numbers:

As is the case, the data provided was collected from users who visited the Google Play Store over a 7-day period ending on October 26th. Any versions with less than 0.1% distribution are not shown.

Android Pie, which was released well over two months ago to AOSP, is still missing. Android Oreo is yet again seeing substantial gains while everything else from Nougat and below is slowly decreasing.

With Android Pie, Google unleashed a host of changes, and the new gesture-based navigation has seen mixed reviews, with many users still preferring the older Oreo-style button-based navigation. It’s surprising that we haven’t yet seen Pie pop up on the chart. Only time will tell how the adoption of Android Pie goes.
