We have talked in the past about how MIUI, Xiaomi’s skin for Android, is very heavy. Some users appreciate the extra added features, while some of them find it to be an annoyance. MIUI 9 has now started rolling out on the Global Stable ROM. Digging around, we seem to have found some interesting things.
Fingerprint sensor: Even on devices without a fingerprint sensor?
When using MIUI 9 on a device that does not house a fingerprint sensor, we were able to launch an activity that launches the setup screen for someone who would have had a fingerprint setup. It obviously, does not work.
Edge touch feature from Mi 4c is… everywhere?
From Nova Launcher, we used the activity launcher to trigger this screen on a Redmi Note 4X, which does not have any such feature. This was a feature that was present on the Mi 4c and is not an indication of edge sense coming to a Mi device.
