Smart Displays with the Google Assistant are now hitting stores

Google has announced the first smart display with the Google Assistant built-in: the Lenovo Smart Display will hit stores this weekend.

The “tablet” is capable of utilizing Google services such as Maps, YouTube, Calendar, Duo, and Photos to answer all your queries. Setting it up is simple—all you have to do is sign in to your Google Account and place it somewhere in your home. The display can handle all the things that a Google Home could, and you can also watch videos and get answers on the screen. You can also control your smart home, make video calls to friends and family, or set reminders with voice commands and touch.

The launch of Smart Displays comes at a time when Amazon has already launched and sold a tablet with Alexa built into it. Google says that the assistant experience has been altered to suit a visual style with this display unit.

The Lenovo Smart Display is available in two display sizes and colors: the 8-inch HD version for $199.99 and the 10-inch Full-HD version for $249.99, and they both come with a full-range 10-watt speaker. They’re available online or in-store at Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon.com, Costco, SamsClub, Lenovo.com, and a few other stores.

Google plans on expanding its Smart Display offerings with other partners, including JBL and LG, which it says are coming soon.
