How to use iCloud Mail on Android

Apple doesn’t have an app to use iCloud Mail on Android. If you’re tied into the Apple ecosystem and want to move to Android, you can set up iCloud Mail on Gmail. Here’s how.

The prerequisites

First, you’ll need to have two-factor authentication set-up. You can learn how to do that over here.

The steps

  1. Open Settings on your Android device.
  2. Tap Accounts > Add account.
  3. On the list of accounts, tap Personal (IMAP). It should have the Gmail icon next to it.
  4. On the next screen that pops up, enter your iCloud email ID and tap next.
  5. Now, you’re gonna have to generate an app-specific password. On another device, sign into your Apple ID account page.
  6. In the Security section, click Generate Password below App-Specific Passwords.
  7. Label it something like “iCloud for Android.” After that, click Create and it’ll show you the app-specific password.
  8. Go back to your Android device where it was asking for the password, and enter the app-specific password you just generated.
  9. After it validates server settings, it’ll show you a couple of options like the sync frequency. Set your desired settings and tap next.
  10. Then it’ll ask you to give it an account name and the name you want to be displayed on sent messages. Click next and you’re done!
