After more than two years since Google announced RCS support in its native messaging app for Android, support for the SMS/MMS replacement has finally come to its MVNO carrier, Google Fi.
Starting today, all Google Fi users using the Messages app for Android will have access to RCS, which Google brands as “Chat.” With RCS, you’ll get typing indicators, read receipts, high-resolution photos and videos, and Wi-Fi texting if the person you’re messaging also uses RCS.
Also announced was that over the next few weeks, Google will roll out faster 4G LTE coverage in 33 more countries.
