Apple Music will soon support Google Assistant and Google Home

After adding support for Android Auto and Android tablets late last year, signs indicate that Apple Music will soon support the Google Assistant and Google Home speakers for music playback.

Opening Google Assistant’s settings and navigating to Services > Music, you may or may not see a new option to choose Apple Music as your default Google Assistant music service. I don’t see it on any of my devices right now but other people do have it on theirs. However, tapping on the “link account” button doesn’t do anything, unfortunately. This obviously still needs to be fixed, but it definitely points towards an imminent launch of Apple Music for the Google Assistant.

There’s also no word yet on casting support yet, and we don’t know whether supporting Google Assistant would enable it in the Apple Music app.

Nevertheless, if this comes to be true, it will be yet another one of Apple’s surprising consumer-friendly moves as of late. Just this past December, Apple Music launched on Echo devices and last month at CES, it was announced that iTunes and AirPlay 2 would be coming to several new smart TVs.
