Google Duo is now available as a web app

Finally! After only being available on Chromebooks through the Android app, Google Duo now has a proper web client for both video and audio calls.

Setup (or lack thereof) is dead simple. You just need to be logged into your Google Account, visit the Duo website, and that’s it. No QR codes or anything. If someone calls you while you’re on your computer, you’ll get a browser notification.

Even cooler is that you can install it as a PWA, meaning that you can launch it straight from your computer’s app search or launcher. Just click the 3-dots menu and then “Install Google Duo.”

Duo for web works insanely well, and I haven’t noticed any bugs or missing features (other than video messages) in the short time that I used it today, so props to the Duo team there. Now, hopefully, group calling is next!
