Amid the U.S. trade restrictions placed on Huawei, the Chinese tech giant must find an alternative to the Google Play Store. Huawei’s Android skin, EMUI, does come with their pre-installed AppGallery app store. However, if they really do plan on going for that alleged Android replacement, they’re going to need developers to port their apps to AppGallery.
An anonymous developer reached out to XDA-Developers sharing an email that Huawei sent them with an invitation to join AppGallery:

Cher XXX team,
- In the last 2 years, Huawei shipped over 350M phones, about half of them in western markets.
- All Huawei phones have our official AppStore “AppGallery” preloaded globally, with 270 million monthly active users.
- We realized that your great Android App XXX is not yet published in our AppGallery.
- In order to guarantee a smooth usage of your App for our users, Huawei is committed to provide you with full support, to help you publish your App into AppGallery.
- We would therefore like to invite you to join our 560k developers community for free, in our Huawei Developer portal.
It’s evident, though, that Huawei is in full desperation mode, but you have to give them credit for trying at least. If there’s any company that can survive this, it’s Huawei: the world’s second-largest phone OEM.
