Google adds experimental Stadia support for all Android phones, mobile touch controls, and more

This week, Google is rolling out several new features to its cloud gaming service, Stadia. Also, in case you missed it, five new free games launched on Stadia Pro for June with The Elder Scrolls Online launching June 16th.

Starting today, OnePlus phones from the 5 onwards officially support playing games on Stadia. The following phones join the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro:

  • OnePlus 5 and 5T
  • OnePlus 6 and 6T
  • OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7 Pro 5G, 7T, 7T Pro, 7T Pro 5G

Google is also adding an experimental feature that lets any Android phone that can install the Stadia app unofficially play games. The feature is still in development, they say, and might not work perfectly, however. To turn it on, navigate to the “Experiments” tab in the Settings menu, and choose “Play on this device.”

Mobile touch controls are also officially rolling out in the app. To access them, select “Try touch gamepad” after launching a game without a controller connected. Touch controls are available for every game on Stadia.

In the coming days, you’ll also soon be able to change your gaming resolution on a per-device basis. Previously, the resolution you chose in the app applied to all your devices, but now, you can go into the “Options” tab in the Stadia menu and change the resolution for the device you’re playing on there.

Lastly, if you’re a current or former Stadia Pro subscriber, you can get $10 off your next game purchase.
