OnePlus was undeniably among the quickest to update their devices to Android Oreo via its Open Beta program. However, those who couldn’t wrap their heads around the beta program were obliged to hold on to last year’s sweet until the official update is released, especially if you weren’t quick enough to install the last OxygenOS 5.0 update before it gets silently pulled. Today, OnePlus decided to end that wait and release the official Oreo update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, perhaps as an early New Year’s Eve gift.

As promised in the OnePlus 5T’s launch event, OnePlus has released the first Open Beta Oreo build for the OnePlus 5T right on time. Needless to say, the highlight will have to be updating the OnePlus 5T to the newest treat from Google. Naturally, this update takes cues from the previously released Oreo update to OnePlus’ preceding flagships, as well as having (almost) all the bells and whistles that you expect when updating your phone to Android 8.0, like Picture-in-Picture mode, Smart Text Selection, Auto-fill and more.

Android 8.0 includes a useful feature with it which shows you the information about the background apps as persistent notification. These are the apps running in the background on your device. This helps you understand which apps are using screen overlays and which apps are running tasks in the background while you are using another app. It’s incredibly helpful if you want to know what apps are causing battery drain or running for too long in the background. If you’re on Oreo and are tired of snoozing that notification about apps running in the background, you can use these apps to permanently silence them.
Apple changed a lot of things in iOS 11 to make it a far better operating system with a far superior user experience, but it still needs some love in one particular area: notifications. The slightest improvement doesn’t outweigh the gaping hole in the software.
App updates are something that every user wants. However, not all apps can be updated frequently. One such example of these kinds of apps are system apps. Since the system apps reside in the root directory, you need to update the entire OS in the form of an OTA to make sure you get those app updates.
