Apple Music hasn’t been a great hit on Android. It doesn’t integrate well with Android like its competitors and it’s quite a buggy app. There’s no Google Home or Chromecast support yet, but Apple’s slowly getting it to integrate better with Android, and the next addition is Android Auto support.
Apple Music is privately testing Android Auto integration in version 2.6.0 beta. To get beta access, you need to get access to the Apple Music beta Google Group. Only after that, you’ll be able to get the beta on the Play Store.
After the update, if you head into Android Auto and tap the music icon, you’ll find Apple Music listed. It works just as intended without any bugs.
Below is the entire changelog of the new beta:
Although not mentioned in the changelog, Apple Music now uses the standard audio notification introduced in Android Oreo. What this means is that the media control notification will now draw colors from the album art of the song you’re listening to, giving a more vibrant and beautiful look.
Getting access to the Apple Music beta Google Group could take quite a while. If you don’t wanna wait, you can download and install the beta from APK Mirror.
