However, there is one particular group that will simply not settle for cheap: hardcore gamers. Until recently, hardcore gamers were forced to spend 700 bucks on the glorious Razer Phone to fulfill their insatiable desire of endless gaming. Honor Face Tracking is allegedly causing battery drain for some users

Huawei has cleverly implemented a feature called Face Tracking. In short, the phone will keep tracking your face to ensure the phone doesn’t turn off the screen or even dim it as long as you (or any other user) are looking at it. Basically, if it detects a face looking at the phone, the screen remains bright. So if you are reading something like an e-book or a lengthy article, the screen will be lit the whole time overriding the configured screen timeout. Pretty cool. But, it turns out that it might drain more juice than desired under certain conditions.

Huawei and Honor phones can no longer install VLC from the Google Play Store

Update 7/28, 12:14 PM CTHuawei is now negotiating with VideoLAN over a possible solution.

If you have bought any modern Android-powered phone from Huawei—or its subdivision Honor—chances are high that you experienced some of Huawei’s additions to the OS in the form of its own skin dubbed as EMUI. Some of these changes are highly appreciable and add more convenience to the user experience, be it some changes to the UI or extra functionality over what the so-called stock Android baseline provides. Other changes might not be so appreciated, among which is Huawei’s own vision of how to manage the running background apps.
