Android P DP5 arrives as the final beta before launch

Google is rolling out the final Developer Preview (DP5/Beta 4) of its latest sweet that is yet to be named. In what Google calls “the release candidate,” Google has included the final Android P APIs, bumping up the API level to 28, which means that the official release can’t be any closer.

Those who are not familiar, Android P brings in some significant changes to the user interface of Android, including a new gesture-based navigation system, a revamped recents view, an overhauled Quick Settings layout, and Google’s new Material Theme. With this being the final beta build, you shouldn’t be worried over any quirks concerning the major UI changes.

The OTA update is rolling out for the latest fleet of Pixel phones, namely the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Other phones that support the beta program like the OnePlus 6 will follow soon, but that’s up to the OEMs. If you have any of these devices and have already enrolled in the Android Beta program, you should be receiving an update notification pretty soon. Those who can’t wait for the OTA to hit their devices can always sideload the OTA or factory images below.
