Today, OnePlus held an event to reveal two new smartphones: the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. This is a first for OnePlus because they have always launched one flagship at a time. The OnePlus 7 is a small step up from the OnePlus 6T and comes with mainly spec bumps. The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, is OnePlus’ flagship that OnePlus can actually pit in front of its competitors.
OnePlus is going all-out on the OnePlus 7 Pro leaving almost no compromises. It’ll drop the teardrop notch from the OnePlus 6T and use a pop-up front facing camera instead. This move may bring up questions about its durability, but OnePlus has tested the mechanism over 300,000 times.
OnePlus has also moved to dual stereo speakers that have Dolby Atmos support. They’ve also upgraded their vibration motor, which is something many users have complained about in the past. Unfortunately, there’s still no wireless charging and while the headphone jack won’t be coming back, OnePlus has stopped including the 3.5mm adapter.
The in-display fingerprint sensor has substantially improved too. Now, it has an unlock speed of 0.21 seconds which is similar to the speed of the OnePlus 6‘s capacitive sensor. Another small upgrade is the move from USB 2.0 to USB 3.1 which will bring faster data transfer speeds. The OnePlus 7 Pro will come in three new color variants: Nebula Blue, Mirror Gray, and Almond White.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the main specs:
Unfortunately, with all the improvements, the price increases. The OnePlus 7 Pro will get a substantial bump from the OnePlus 6T, although it still is lesser than other flagships.
While OnePlus has gone all-out on the OnePlus 7 Pro, the price has also risen substantially. To keep a cheaper alternative, OnePlus has also launched the OnePlus 7 which is a minor upgrade from the OnePlus 6T.
The OnePlus 7 retains almost every feature of the OnePlus 6T, including the teardrop notch. The chipset is now a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and it’s coupled with UFS 3.0 storage. The camera setup is similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, but it skips the telephoto and wide-angle cameras and keeps a 5 MP depth sensor.
Like the OnePlus 7 Pro, it also gets the updated in-display fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers. There’s bad news, though: it won’t sell in the United States. The OnePlus 7 will come in two color variants: Mirror Gray and Red.

Funnily enough, the OnePlus 7 gets a price cut in India and a slight price increase in the UK.
