YouTube Music will come preinstalled on new Android 9 and 10 devices

I could probably go on a whole rant here about YouTube Music, but let’s just save that for another day. Today, however, Google announced that the YouTube Music app would come preinstalled on all new Android 9 and 10 devices, explicitly noting the Pixel series.

Seemingly, this will replace Google Play Music in the suite of “GApps” that Android OEMs must bundle if they want to include the Google Play Store on their devices. For the time being, however, Google Play Music isn’t going anywhere, as Google notes that users of it can still download it from the Play Store.
