Stock Android 9 Pie vs. OxygenOS Pie comparison: Which is better?

Android Pie hasn’t even made a dent in Android’s distribution numbers despite Google, Essential, and OnePlus being the first manufacturers to offer it. Google and Essential rolled out very close-to-stock versions of Android Pie, but OnePlus changed a bit of the UI and added some of their own additional features. Did OnePlus make this release of Pie better than Google? Or did they eat our Pie just as they had eaten our Oreo? Let’s find out.

[Update: Fixed] Samsung’s Gear app is incompatible with Android 9 Pie and makes your Gear devices paperweights

Android 9 Pie was just released two days ago, but developers have had since March to update their apps. Unfortunately for many users, the Samsung Gear app, which is used for pairing Samsung Gear devices such as the Gear IconX or Gear smartwatches to your smartphone, does not work at all with Android Pie.

Digital Wellbeing is now available on the Play Store as a public beta

Digital Wellbeing was one of the major announcements of Android Pie. However, it didn’t make it into the final release and is set to release in fall. Users with a Pixel phone could sign up to test the beta by filling out a Google Form and then getting invited to try it out, but now, it’s available on the Play Store as a public beta.
