Google is updating the pistol emoji on Android to a water gun

According to a report published by Emojipedia, Google is updating its pistol emoji in favor of a toy water gun.

The move is presumably to be more consistent with other platforms. Apple set the trend way back in 2016, and while many balked at their decision, a lot of vendors have actually followed suit.

According to Emojipedia, Facebook is also in the process of updating their pistol to a water gun as well.

Google has updated its Noto Color Emoji repository on GitHub with the new emoji, indicating that Android P will feature the redesigned pistol emoji. I know there will be many users unhappy with this change, but let us know your thoughts down in the comment section below.
