Google Assistant aims to give you a snapshot of your day with new contextual cards

Back at Google I/O ’18, the tech giant unveiled a new look to the Google Assistant that would be released later this year. Today, Google is now rolling out a new section with contextual cards in Assistant to help give you a snapshot of your day. And as is the case with Google, it’s a server-side update, so not everybody has this right now, including me.

The easiest way to know if you have the new update or not is to invoke Google Assistant and look for the updated icons in the top right of the UI. The button on the left brings up the new Visual snapshot screen while the one on the right leads to the familiar Explore page.

What you’re getting here is basically what you got a few years ago with Google Now with a few more apps and additions. Personally, I’m not a fan of the location of this new screen. It’s two extra taps when Google could’ve just replaced the crap that is the Google Feed today with this. That would’ve been much more convenient.
