Google is testing crash and speed trap reporting in Maps

Waze has been a competitor to Google Maps for quite a while. In addition to simply routing you somewhere, Waze provides information about traffic, construction, police, crashes, and more in real-time. Google had bought Waze, but none of its features have been assimilated into Google Maps ever since. However, according to a report from Android Police, Google is testing crash and speed reporting in Maps, a subset of the features Waze offers.

While navigating, you may have a new report button down at the bottom of the screen. It lets you report a crash and a speed trap. Google Maps can then alert you when you’re near a speed trap and avoid the route where there’s been a crash.

For now, it’s not useful since many people don’t have the feature.  It’s only in testing after all, and it works only in navigation mode.
