Opinion: Exynos is bad, but it shouldn’t be killed

After numerous leaks and endless rumors, Samsung’s newest Galaxy S23 series has now been officially unveiled, confirming several of those leaks we stumbled upon in the past couple of months. One of those leaks that particularly caught the eye was Samsung ditching its in-house Exynos SoC, going all-in on Qualcomm’s latest offering, bringing parity to its customers across all the different markets we all craved for so long. Not only that, the Galaxy S23 series will feature a special beefed-up version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, featuring the “For Galaxy” moniker. At first, this might sound spectacular, especially for those in the EU and MENA regions contemplating the idea of upgrading to the newest flagship from Samsung this year. However, I’d like to argue that ditching Exynos altogether might not be the best news to hear in the long run.

Samsung has just induced a big power shift

In typical fashion, Samsung wowed the whole world with its new fleet of flagship phones, the new S22 lineup. Of course, it is the larger S22 Ultra that made the headlines, with its behemoth form factor housing a sleek stylus on its side, along with a slew of exclusive features and a unique design that sets it away from its relatively smaller S22 siblings. However, Samsung has managed to do something few of us would have imagined. Despite Google’s recent endeavors in the Pixel 6 series to assume the default choice of Android, Samsung may have just stolen Google’s thunder with its release of the S22 line.

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S21 Ultra could spell the end of the Note line — and that’s ok

Earlier last week, Samsung unveiled the much anticipated Galaxy S21 series in typical fashion, with the Galaxy S21 Ultra featuring all the bells and whistles one would expect, alongside the other toned-down S21+ and the vanilla S21 variants. While the latter two models got everyone talking about their respective features — or lack thereof — it is the S21 Ultra that’s got my attention. Of course, with that hefty price tag and such impressive camera hardware, the S21 Ultra is surely made to turn heads around. But as we look at the bigger picture, the S21 Ultra could signal the beginning of a new era where Samsung’s prestigious Note lineup could fade away.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ long-term review: trusty reliable

With Samsung primed to announce the Galaxy S21 series in a couple of days, I figured out it might be a good time to assess how the Galaxy S20 series has fared so far. I happened to own a Galaxy S20+ since May 2020, more particularly the international Exynos-powered variant which is often frowned upon by the tech geeks around the world. Here’s my long-term review.

Fortnite installer could have been used to install malicious apps on Samsung phones

Fortnite for Android didn’t come to the Play Store. It was first available on Samsung Galaxy Apps and non-Samsung users could get it from Epic‘s website later on. If you downloaded the installer from the Galaxy app store, you could’ve been exploited by a “Man-in-the disk” attack. This attack allows a hacker to install a malicious app on your phone.

In-Depth: Why phone manufacturers continue to eliminate the headphone jack despite all the backlash

Ever since the iPhone 7, there has been an addition to the list of things smartphones can usually endorse as features – the inclusion of a headphone jack. Not that Apple was the first to exclude what for years has been considered a mandatory part of any personal computing device from their smartphone. But because it’s Apple and the iPhone is the most popular phone in the world. So it sets the standard.
