April Fool’s Day is today, but this is not a prank. Google’s April 2019 security updates are here. Head to Settings > System > Advanced > System update to get the OTA.
All Pixel phones on the April update have the same build number (PQ2A.190405.003), but the Pixel C, which did receive a patch last month, is not on this month’s list. Quite possibly, support for the Google-made tablet might have just ended officially. Also, if you’re running the Android Q Beta on your device like I am, you will not receive this update. Presumably, the April patch will come with Beta 2 sometime in the first half of this month.
Essential is also already rolling out the April update on build PQ1A.190105.045. This update also brings “adjustments to minimum brightness and volume settings” for the PH-1.
Detailed in the Pixel Update Bulletin were some functional patches to the Assistant and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, the screen flashes on the ambient display on some Pixel 3 devices should finally be fixed with this update.
