More than five dangerous Android apps seep into the Play Store yet again

According to APK Labs, more than five Android apps riddled with banking malware have made their way to the Play Store again. The apps, that come disguised as “RAM Boosters” or “System Cleaners,” are definitely good at cleaning out things—but they clean out your bank account instead. At the time of writing (11:20 PM/CT), one of the malware ridden APKs was still on the Play Store.

Google bans apps whose sole aim is to serve ads, crypto-miners, and more

Earlier this week we had talked about how fake VPN apps which only serve ads were filling up the Play Store. We are glad to see that Google is taking some cognizance of this widespread issue, taking cheating developers to task. Google also banned cryptocurrency miners, which utilize the phone’s CPU/GPU to mine cryptocurrencies.
