In a normal year, the new Android Beta release would usually launch at Google I/O in mid-May. However, I/O this year was completely canceled both in-person and online due to the coronavirus pandemic. A few weeks ago, Google later announced that it would hold an “Android 11 Beta Launch Show” online where it would release the public beta and provide a chance to ask the Android team questions about it. That event was scheduled for next week, Wednesday, June 3rd, but is now delayed.

Google silently adds Huawei back to the Android Q Beta program
Earlier last week, the US-based tech giant Google revoked Huawei’s license to use the Android operating system as the base for its EMUI skin. That came after President Trump signed an executive order to put Huawei on what’s known as the “Entity List.” This means that all American companies are forbidden from doing any kind of business with the Chinese tech giant without explicit government approval.

Google releases Android Q Beta 2 with bubbles, Scoped Storage, and more
The first beta of Android Q was released less than a month ago, and today, Google just released Beta 2. This also comes before Google I/O which is likely when the next beta will be announced. The beta is still only available on Pixel phones, Android Studio’s emulator, and as a generic system image (GSI).

Android Q Beta now open for all Pixel phones
Today’s the day! The public beta for the next version of Android, Q, is finally open. It’s available for all Pixel phones, including the first-gen Pixel, which technically reached EOL for Android version updates in October of last year.

It’s not just you—the latest Google app beta broke the At A Glance weather widget
The At A Glance widget on Pixel phones and as a widget through the Google app is a nifty and minimal tool that displays the date, your current location’s weather, and (sometimes) notifies you of traffic updates. However, since about last Friday, I and many other users on the beta for the Google app noticed that the weather part went missing.

Apple Music beta v2.7 adds tablet support and a bottom navigation bar
Despite being an Apple product, Apple Music has started to integrate with Android much better now. It has partial Google Assistant integration and they previously made it work with Android Auto. Although Android tablets aren’t all that popular anymore, Apple Music will now support them.

Apple Music beta adds Android Auto support
Apple Music hasn’t been a great hit on Android. It doesn’t integrate well with Android like its competitors and it’s quite a buggy app. There’s no Google Home or Chromecast support yet, but Apple’s slowly getting it to integrate better with Android, and the next addition is Android Auto support.
